When it time to rip and tare one of the best tools to have is a sawzall. When it’s time to do some demolition work I reach for my sawzall it make easy work of most common demolition work. Again you have to decide on the sustain power of an electric or the handiness of no cord of a battery operated sawzall which you have to way out on your own. One nice feature is a variable speed trigger to control the speed of the cut and to be able to change the blade without tools. There are many types of blades from wood to metal and fiberglass to concrete.

There are 4 types of miter saw that come in 2 standard sizes 8 inch blade and the 12 inch blade. The chop saw , compound miter saw, slide compound miter saw and the dual compound miter saw. First the standard chop saw has single pivot point and only makes cuts across the board. Second the compound miter saw is the same as the chop saw but the blades lays over to one side so you can cut a crossed the board on a angle or bevel. Third the sliding compound miter saw the sliding compound miter saw does not have a single pivot point it has a slide which the saw motor and blade moves on which makes the saw able to cut much wider boards. Last the dual compound miter saw is the same as the sliding compound miter saw but as the dual the blade can lay both ways for a bevel cut in either direction.

Circular saw is a tool every home owner needs. They are relatively inexpensive from about 60 dollars to 160 dollar for a more expensive one that mit last a life time. A must for the day to day up keep of the average house from wood to concrete there are many different blades which makes the circular saw a very useful tool.
The most common size is 7 ¼ with 2 basic adjustments the depth which lets you adjust the foot up and down and another that lets you adjust the angle of your cut up to 45 degrees.
There are 3 basic cuts the CROSSCUTS Nearly perfect crosscuts can be achieved by using a square to guide the foot of the saw. You must hold the square firmly or the saw can slip. The PLUNGE CUTS These cuts are required when the blade can’t start at the edge of the board. To make this cut, place the front of the shoe against the work piece. Then, turn on the saw and slowly lower the blade into the material. And the RIP CUTS Accurate rip cuts can be made with the help of a rip fen

When tiring to decide on which size band saw is the best for you, you have to look at the two main dimensions 14 inch, 17 inch or 18 inch which is the width that can be cut. It’s the distance between the blade and the vertical frame. The other dimension you need to consider is the saw depth the opening between the table and the upper guide. These two dimensions will determine the size of stock that can be passed through the saw. There are also two types of saws, one you can mount on a bench which is nice for the home owner with a wood shop in the basement or garage to save space. Or a larger free standing which comes with a metal stand or a cabinet that mounts the saw to the floor.

When selecting a band saw blade the first thing you need to know is the exact length of the blade and the exact width of the blade and the number of teeth per inch or the tooth pitch. To get the exact length first put the saw in working position then measure between the upper and lower wheel hubs center. Then get the radius of the upper and lower wheels, then use this formula: (R1 x 3.1416) + (R2 x 3.146) + (2 x C) = length.
The blade width is measured from back of the blade to the tips of the teeth. If you are going to use it as a cut off saw then you want it as wide as the manufacture allows the wider the blade the straighter the cut. Countors sawing you want a blade narrow enough to get the shape or radius you are looking for.

Band saw safety is a must although band saws are very safe when used properly; they can be very dangers if not well maintained. Blade can break, pieces of wood can fly up at you the number one rule is always were your safety glasses. When setting up and adjusting always follow the manufactures instructions for your safety and ours
